INTRO TO CHAIR CANING $60
Your instructor is Doug Lowman. Doug is fiber artist who specializes in the caning of chairs, rockers and stools, and loves to introduce students to this time-honored skill. Doug is an active member in many weaving organizations and lives on a farm in Washington County.

About the class
Do you have an antique chair from a beloved relative that has a caned seat in need of repair? Want to do it yourself but don't know where to begin? Here is the class for you. Not only will you experience the artistry of seat weaving, but you will actually walk away with the knowledge of the Appalachian 7-step method woven on a wooden form. After taking this class you will definitely be hooked on taking another! Moderate hand strength and no recent shoulder, arm or hand injuries are recommended. If you have questions about your ability to do the class, please contact us. Bring a lunch.
